CME can make all arrangements for the patient and companion as soon as the physician has determined the patient is fit to fly and a receiving facility has been confirmed. We have nurses available in all areas of the country and most always a nurse can depart the same day as the request is received.

Many of our patients that we transport are unable to ambulate onto the aircraft. Our flight coordinators make special arrangements with the airline to provide aisle wheelchairs when boarding the aircraft.  An aisle wheelchair is used to transport passengers with mobility limitations into and out of the plane. Our flight medical personal carry appropriate equipment and are trained in the transportation of paralyzed patients, and those needing full assist when transferring.

After receiving a physician's order for oxygen, CME can provide supplemental in-flight oxygen. CME uses both the Inogen One and Respironics Evergo portable oxygen concentrators, which are approved for use onboard. Some carriers still provide in-flight oxygen and that can be arranged if necessary. The flight coordinators will determine the best option for the patient. CME’s medical team will monitor and regulate a patient’s oxygen requirement throughout the transport.

The cost will vary and depends on the length of the trip, the location and destination of the patient, and the needs of the patient. We encourage you to fill out the quote request form or call us so that we can put together a specialized quote for you. All of our quotes are all inclusive for both the patient and the RN. There are no hidden costs.
